BARKER'S RIDGE

Our subdivision was established in 1986. During the “downturn” in the late 1980’s construction halted. Did it ever pick up with a bang in the early 1990’s! The homes in Barkers Ridge were constructed by several builders,  Trendmaker, Plantation, Mastermark and Pulte.

Section One (the Place) is north of Morton and west of the pool. Construction dates range from 1986 to 1993 in this area with most prices ranging from the $90’s to high $140’s. Many of these homes are on horseshoe streets and have attached garages.

Section Two (the Park), also north of Morton and east of the pool, is comprised of homes typically constructed from 1991-1994 and ranging from low $120’s for a smaller one-story to low $200’s for larger two-story. There is a good blend of one and two-story homes with mostly detached garages.

Section Three (the Estates) is south of Morton. This section is comprised of larger homes on generally larger lots. The square footage ranges from about 2400 sq.ft. to over 3600 sq.ft. Most of these homes were built during the early 1990’s and range from low $140’s to the low $200's.

Sections Four and Five (the Village) north of Morton and just west of the drainage easement was completed in early 1998. Pulte is the sole builder in The Village with resale prices ranging from $130’s to low $200’s.

Barkers Ridge boasts a very strong Home Owners Association (HOA) and various organizations offering both adult and family activities strive to make this subdivision home to its nearly 800 families.

Barkers Ridge HOA hosts numerous family friendly activities throughout the year.  Watch for notices and information via frequent email updates.

The Swim Team, for children 4 and up, offers an opportunity for advanced swimming instruction, competition and learning the value of team participation.

Additionally, there are Bunko Groups, a Golf Tournament, etc....Once moved in -- jump right in and enjoy.  Enjoy our beautiful outdoors on the walking paths in Barkers Ridge.  Jump on one at Morton just west of Eagle Ridge, and stroll over to the schools.  The Cullen Park trails can be picked up just a few yards north of the high school where a long run or bike ride can be enjoyed to Hwy. 6 and back.

For commuters, the recently redesigned and completed I-10 offers a fairly smooth trip into downtown.  Hwy. 290 is just a hop north, the Sam Houston Tollway is easily accessed via Clay or I-10.  Shopping, eating, recreation and churches are all within a mile.

For mall lovers, West Oaks is about 15 minutes south and a Katy Mills Mall is about 10 minutes west.

Cullen Park with all of its playgrounds and picnic areas -- plus the wooded bike/walk/skate trails is almost adjacent to Barkers Ridge running from just west of Barker Cypress to Hwy. 6.

Our own pool, playgrounds and picnic area is one of the finest around.

A major draw to this area is the exceptional Katy School District. Test scores are some of the highest in the state! The nicest amenity in Barkers Ridge, however, is that small town “feel” -- your neighbors really do care!
